On May 27, 2009, Prime-minister Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation visited the headquarters of Transas Group of Companies in St. Petersburg where he spent more than two hours. During this visit Dmitry Medvedev was introduced to a wide range of innovative products by Transas. The Prime-minister was shown the simulator of the Mil-8 helicopter of the D category, which he flew together with the pilot of Transas Group of Companies over the coastline in the area of Adler Airport. In conclusion he practiced emergency landing after engine failure. A little later, Dmitry Medvedev got to the steering wheel of a navigational simulator and took part in a rescue mission in the Novorossiysk Port.
Transas educational and recreational products aroused great interest of the Russian Prime-minister . The Prime-minister set off on a space journey on board of the Trans-Force spaceship, during which he docked the International Space Station, saved lost scout-robots, beat of an attack of asteroids and eventually made a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
During the presentation Dmitry Medvedev was also shown extracts from educational and children’s entertainment programs in the Trans-Force interactive theatre. The Prime-minister took part in electronic quizzes and educational games displayed on monitors. It was emphasized in the conversation with the Russian Prime-minister that the versatility of the facilities will make it possible to use high technologies both for educational purposes and for entertainment.
Dmitry Medvedev spoke high of the developments of Transas Group of Companies in the sphere of education and edutainment of the public pointing out the excellent use of visual aids and deep immersion into the subject being studied. A combination of the cognitive process and entertainment enhances motivation for acquiring knowledge: as an active traveler a student perceives the training process as an exciting game, while interactive team work promotes attention and involvement. In the opinion of the Prime-minister , such facilities should become wide-spread all over Russia.
Completing his visit and talking to Transas employees, Dmitry Medvedev summarized his impressions: “We all need to exert tremendous efforts to really U-turn the “rusty machine” of our economy towards innovation and hi-tech systems similar to those produced by this company… I liked it very much, honestly. To tell the truth, I never expected to see anything of this kind… I knew you had various interesting things here… – It is really very impressive. Well done… Transas certainly is a unique company, and I congratulate you on this”.
